Once upon a time, in 2012 to be exact, the Zebra Dream ice cream company was founded. The world has never been the same. Or as delicious. Born from the belief that you shouldn’t have to choose between clean, dairy-free ingredients and taste, Zebra Dream is a premium brand of delicious, vegan and natural ice cream.
When people ask us how we came up with such a delicious and impressively healthy ice cream, we’d like to say that we are entrepreneurial geniuses, but the truth is much humbler…
WE’VE COME A LONG WAY
After years of selling ice cream from the cart directly to customers, listening to their feedback and tweaking the recipe, the decadently vibrant Zebra Dream you now know today was created.
From the first vanilla flavour to an adventurous chocolate miso to a decadent choc peanut butter, we’ve been passionately committed to refining and producing the best coconut based dessert that’s dazzling in flavour, yet light and smooth in consistency. Full of swirls, chunks and surprises its pure indulgence at its healthiest.
After years of research and aiming to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation, we have relaunched our products with a whole lot of “new”. First to market, our ice-cream (or as we like to call it “frozen desserts” you know, because we are Vegan), is now hemp mylk based! Our delicious creations are also no-added-sugar and high-protein, so all the goodness without compromising on taste. Mmmmm!
Zebra Dream was founded by Zak Bennett who after years of creative endeavours in the music and arts industry decided to turn his energy into creating a synergy between his passions of art, healthy living and environmental sustainability.
The dream was to create a dairy-free ice cream that tasted as good as it made him feel, all without the environmental and health impacts of dairy.
The Zebra Dream vision was born in 2012 selling small batches of handmade coconut ice cream from a self-made ice cream vending tricycle at markets and festivals around Melbourne. Zak continues to challenge the norm, invent, test and create all of Zebra Dream frozen desserts.
2. CERTIFIED VEGAN AND ENDORSED BY COELIAC AUSTRALIA
When you buy our products, you can be assured that environmentally and socially ethical processes have been used to produce our ingredients. This means no genetically modified food and no pesticides. It also means we’re committed to increasing biodiversity and the long-term health of our water, soil and climate.
We’ve always been very mindful of who we cohabit the earth with, that’s why when you buy our ice-cream, you can be assured that it is 100% vegan. In addition, we made sure no gluten is used in the process and are now happily endorsed by Coeliac Australia. Respectful of the animals, better for you!
3. HEMP MYLK BASED
Hemp is one of the most sustainable and fast-growing botanical materials. While it only imparts a subtle nutty flavour to our recipes, it sure punches above its weight with high content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, giving you so many of the health benefits your body needs. This is precisely why we’re such big fans. What a legendary ingredient!
4. NO ADDED SUGAR AND HIGH IN PROTEIN
Zebra Dream is low in sugar, yet still sweet and delicious as ice cream should be. Many of our customers like to watch the level and types of sugar in their diet, therefore we choose to use natural sweeteners. Our ice cream is sweetened with Xylitol, strange as it sounds, it is a natural, non-sugar based sweetener extracted from Birch trees. Monk Fruit is another non-sugar based sweetener we decided to use. Subtle sweet taste, no nasties. Win – win!
